This Privacy Policy governs the Spek: Acoustic Spectrum Analyzer mobile application
(referred to as the "App", "Spek", "we", "us", or "our"),
developed and operated by Mobivera Labs (Package Name: com.mobiveralabs.spek).
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. Spek is built from the ground up on an
offline-first, privacy-preserving architecture. This document explains transparently what data
the application interacts with, why certain system permissions are requested, and how your privacy is safeguarded.
✅
Zero Audio Uploads: Spek does not own, run, or communicate with any cloud server to analyze or store your audio. Every Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), spectrogram render, and file decode occurs entirely within your device's local memory.
We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as your legal name, home address, personal phone number, contacts list, email address, physical location (GPS), or credit card details.
- No User Account: You can download and utilize all analysis capabilities without signing up, authenticating, or sharing any personal identity.
- No Audio Fingerprinting or File Telemetry: We do not log the filenames, audio metadata, acoustic signatures, or track tags of the music or sounds you analyze.
- Local Settings Only: Your display preferences (such as selected color palette, FFT window size, dB scale minimum/maximum range, and recent file references) are stored locally on your device using Android's sandboxed storage.
Acoustic spectrum analysis inherently requires interacting with audio sources. Here is our strict commitment regarding both audio files and live microphone input:
A. Stored Audio Files & Open-With Intents
When you select an audio file (e.g. FLAC, WAV, MP3, OGG, AAC) from your device or open an audio stream via another application:
- The file is opened solely via Android's secure Storage Access Framework (SAF) or native intent.
- The decoder unpacks audio samples in local memory to compute frequency bins.
- The audio file is never copied to external servers, never uploaded to third parties, and never modified.
B. Live Microphone Acoustic Analysis (RECORD_AUDIO)
Spek includes a real-time live spectrum analysis mode allowing you to visualize ambient acoustic frequencies via your device microphone:
- Strictly Ephemeral Processing: Live audio samples captured by the microphone are converted into spectral frequency amplitudes in volatile RAM memory and immediately discarded after drawing each visualization frame.
- No Audio Recording or Disk Writing: Microphone data is never written to an audio file, never saved to disk, and never transmitted over the network or shared with any entity.
- Revocable at Any Time: Microphone permission is requested at runtime on Android 6.0+ (API 23+) and can be disabled at any time in your system settings without affecting offline audio file analysis.
C. Spectrogram Image Export
When you choose to export or share a generated spectrogram:
- The graphic is rendered to an image file (e.g. PNG) stored locally on your device or passed directly to Android's native share sheet.
- We do not retain copies or transmit your exported spectrograms anywhere.
In accordance with Google Play Developer Policy, Spek requests only the minimal permissions required to deliver its core features:
| Permission |
Type |
Purpose |
android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO |
Runtime (Dangerous) |
Enables real-time acoustic spectrum visualization through the live microphone. Samples are processed in volatile memory and never recorded or saved. |
android.permission.INTERNET |
Normal |
Allows Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) SDK to request and display advertisements and maintain connectivity for ad delivery. |
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE |
Normal |
Permits the advertising framework to check whether an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection is available before loading ads. |
To keep Spek free and accessible to audio enthusiasts and engineers worldwide, the App integrates Google AdMob to display advertising (such as Banner Ads, Interstitial Ads, App Open Ads, and optional Rewarded Ads).
The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically receive certain device and diagnostic data to serve ads and prevent fraudulent impressions:
- Pseudonymous Device Identifiers: Google Advertising ID (GAID / AAID) or similar device tokens.
- Technical Diagnostics: Device model, operating system version, carrier, general coarse geographic area (derived from IP address), and ad interaction statistics.
- Non-Intrusive Placement: Ads are configured to ensure they never compromise or interrupt live acoustic analysis or audio decoding.

How to Control or Opt Out of Ad Personalization:
You can manage or reset your advertising identifier and disable personalized advertising at any time on your Android device by going to:
Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads) and selecting "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalization".

Google's Advertising Privacy Policies.
Any technical data processed by the application or integrated SDKs is used strictly for:
- Executing acoustic signal processing, Fast Fourier Transforms, and spectrogram visualizations locally.
- Serving advertisements and measuring ad engagement.
- Ensuring application stability, diagnosing unexpected software crashes, and optimizing rendering performance.
- Preventing fraudulent ad clicks, spam, or malicious application tampering.
💡
We Do Not Sell Data: Mobivera Labs never sells, rents, leases, or trades your data, audio files, or personal information to data brokers, marketers, or any unauthorized third parties.
Spek integrates trusted third-party SDKs provided by Google. Each third-party service operates under its respective privacy policy:
Because Spek does not require an account or store personal information on remote servers:
- No Remote Data to Retain: We do not hold databases containing your identity, audio recordings, or personal data.
- Local Data Removal: All locally stored application settings, cache, and history can be removed at any time by clearing the App's storage via Android Settings → Apps → Spek → Storage → Clear Data, or by uninstalling the App.
We take modern security practices seriously to protect your device and data:
- All core processing is isolated within the sandboxed Android application environment.
- Network requests made by third-party advertising partners strictly use industry-standard HTTPS (TLS/SSL encryption).
- No unencrypted or sensitive audio feeds are broadcast over local networks or the internet.
Spek is a technical audio utility tool designed for audio engineers, producers, musicians, students, and audio enthusiasts.
